What is Janitor AI

In simple words: it’s a platform for communicating with AI bots. The neural network is constantly learning, creating more natural dialogs. It also “understands” the user’s emotions and responds empathically to them.

But the most important reason for the popularity of the service is that it disables the “adult” filter at the user’s request and expands the list of topics for conversation. Actually, this option lures those who lack relaxed communication with Character AI characters.

The interfaces of the two sites are similar: on the main page the user is greeted by the most popular bots, and for easy search the chats are divided into categories. You can find an interlocutor on any topic: chat about aliens, literature or Pokémon, philosophize, make jokes, talk to a celebrity or a character from your favorite movie.

How to use Janitor AI

To get started, you need to go to the site and sign up via mail, X or Discord.

The user will immediately be asked to tell more about themselves. There are required fields – nickname and name – as well as optional fields.

Compared to Character AI, Janitor’s characters lack depth and cohesion, sometimes they often repeat themselves or deviate from the topic altogether. However, the bot’s response can be evaluated and edited, you can continue generating or ask to completely rewrite the replica. How to create your character

In case 200,000 chats are not enough, Janitor AI has an option to create your own bot. There are detailed instructions to help the user.

First, you need to click Create a Character in the upper right corner of the site:

• Image. Field for uploading the avatar of the future hero. Right below the line – preview to know in advance how the photo will look like on the business card.
• Character Name. Here – the name of the character.
• Character Chat Name. Optional nickname, which can be displayed in chats instead of the name.
• Character Bio. The character’s bio, which will appear on the character card, but will not affect the character’s personality or responses.
• Character Tags. No more than 7 tags that will describe the character. They must be in the character’s language of communication.
• Privacy Settings & Content Rating. In the privacy settings you can make a chatbot public or closed – visible and available for communication only to the creator. But you should be careful with the “18+” content option – carefully study all the rules before creating an “adult” character. If they are violated, both the user and the bot will face a ban.
• Personality. A field for a detailed description of the character’s personality. It is this setting that determines his behavior and interaction with interlocutors.
• Scenario. An optional section to be filled in. If desired, you can describe the context and environment around the character during the dialog.
• Initial Message (First Message). A welcome message that will appear when launching the chatbot. It is important to make it interesting and engaging in order to encourage the conversation partner to develop the dialog.
• Example Dialogs. A sample chat between a human and a future character. An optional field, but the developers suggest that the section is important for teaching the bot its own way of communicating.
• Show Character Definition. Enables or disables the use of chatbot by proxy servers that are not officially available. If allowed, the character’s unique key – token – may “leak”. To avoid this, it is recommended not to allow the use of proxy servers, except Janitor and OpenAI.

When everything is ready, you can click on Create Character and start communicating.

Disadvantages of Janitor AI

Using the native neural network API – JanitorLLM Beta – is free. This is the default setting in all dialogs and when creating your character. But more “live” communication using OpenAI will cost money.

The trial version will cost $5. This will be enough for about 500 messages. Basic prices depend on the GPT model: $3-$30 to input and $6-$60 to withdraw a million tokens.
