Instagram users complain of mass bans and blame them on AI moderation

Instagram users have been complaining about massive unwarranted bans for weeks now. Many suspect that the problem lies in poor moderation by AI tools.

As the affected users assure, they received the ban, although they did not violate the terms of service or other company policies. Many write that they filed an appeal against the ban with a request to verify the decision, but have not received a response.

“I’ve already filed several appeals, sent my ID and tried to contact Meta through all official channels, but I’m just ignored. It feels like I’m shouting into the void,” wrote one user on Reddit.

Many users running commercial Instagram accounts complain that the blocking has resulted in a loss of revenue.

The situation has become so tense that some people are already planning to file a class action lawsuit against Meta, and a Change.org petition calling for the company to be held accountable for the blockings has gathered more than 4,000 signatures.
