Gemini will access WhatsApp, messages and calls
Gemini’s AI will soon integrate with Android apps like WhatsApp, Messages and Phone. The changes will take effect on July 7, 2025, Google told Gemini users in an email blast, Neowin writes, citing Tuta.

You can restrict Gemini access on your device by going to Gemini > Profile > Apps > Disable individual app extensions. You can also disable Gemini Apps activity by going to Gemini > Profile > Gemini Apps Activity > Disable. But even if Gemini App Activity is disabled, Google may store user activity data for 72 hours for security purposes and for feedback.
If left enabled, Gemini will be able to send messages and make calls from the smartphone. Google said that Gemini will not be able to read WhatsApp messages, add or view images, gifs in messages, add or play audio or video in messages, or read or reply to WhatsApp notifications. Google also added: “The Gemini mobile app can support some of these actions with Google Assistant or the Utilities app, even if WhatsApp is disabled in Gemini.”
